The Strait of Magellan is located between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, specifically between the tip of the mainland of South America, and the island of Tierra del Fuego, where it is located within the entire Chilean territorial waters except for its easternmost border that reaches Argentina, and the length of this strait is about 560 km long, 3-32 km wide, and extends westward from the Atlantic Ocean between Cape Vergens and Cape Espiritu Santo, and turns to the southwest, up to the northwest slopes of the Cape Froward on the southern tip of the Brunswick Peninsula, to reach the Pacific Ocean, after passing through Cape Pillar on the island of Desolation, the main port of the strait is Punta Arenas on the Brunswick Peninsula, and this port is an important shipping point for Chilean lamb. 
Strait of Magellan
This strait was established along the southern edges of the South American continent, and was named after the Portuguese adventurer Ferdinand Magellan, who was the first explorer to sail around the world in 1520 AD, and despite the danger of this strait, it is considered the fastest route connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans for trade and exploration. With its chaotic waters between Antarctica and South America, in addition to the fact that it has glaciers, and its winds are strong and severe. 
The importance of the Strait of Magellan
The Strait of Magellan was considered important for the passage of sailing ships until the construction of the Panama Canal, but it is still used for ships near South America , and this strait is considered one of the most picturesque waterways in the world; This is because it provides an inner corridor protected from the constant ocean storms, yet the strait is considered foggy overlooking the city of Punta Arenas on the mainland,  and the importance of the region has increased in recent years due to the production of major oil and gas in Chile, as well as its impact on tourism planning in every country. From Antarctica, Punta Arenas, and Ushuaia in Argentina, the southernmost cities in the world.
